i am, who i am;)

Hey loves it's been a while since I've updated my blog. I apologize for that, I've had a lot on mind and have been so busy. I wanted to share some thoughts, so this won't have any picture's lol.

There's a bigger part of me, that resist the greater heart of me....
It's held by restrictions, and complications, and some would say realizations....
However, the heart of me rejoices. The heart of me has a profound voice....
It compliments my flaws, because it always keep me humble and sane....
My heart needs love like oxygen, to keep it functioning and well maintained...
When looking through my eye's, it would be an instant subscription to art, love, beauty, and God..
When looking through my eye's many things may seem to be distorted or to you, come off some what odd..
When entering my mind, what a land of whimsical fantasy, and man made realities..
What a vast sense of pleasure and stimulation from, little things like the details of an Autumn leaf...
Or the kiss of the wind with my eye's closed knowing that,
"This is God noticing me"....
Or even the way the city is absent of life at night, so I believe that the world is now mine..
And always at these moments I feel like I could breathe as if there aren't any limitations to time..
Wonderland of thoughts, I continually enjoy the rides...
Being a fan of rebellion, goes hand and hand with being scrutinized...
At the end of my day, when ever that may be...
I am, Who I am, and that's most successful to me.

"Another Belle Story"

The lovely Belle my superstar friend and client is on her way to another fabulous event. I had such an amazing time doing makeup/hair and styling her look for the event!! She was dripped in Yves Saint Laurent, Fendi, Harrison Morgan, and Stella McCartney... We decided to go with a vibrant plum purple, smokey eye and super cotton candy, pale pink lip, topped with sparkling gloss!!! It was magical. For hair I wanted to do an up do, something fun, flirty, and stylized in the back. The loose curls framing the face gave such a romantic mood to the face, it was a great balance from the structured silhouette, and sexy stiletto's. One of my best yet!!!!!! Loving my Belle:)
Tip; Creating balance is so important, it's that fine line between being classic couture vs. over the top, trying to grasp attention look. If your outfit is form fitting or body hugging, try to keep certain things covered, that way you leave a lot to the imagination. Ladies, please I repeat, PLEASE don't be afraid to show some sexy calves. It teases the mind and gives enough, without giving A LOT.

GLAMOUR HAIR!!!

This is my great friend Jaicey, she volunteered before and after shots from me doing her extensions. In the bottom picture, you see the actual length her hair. Jaicey's the type of girl who love volume and glamour, I love creating red carpet looks for the everyday girl so we pair perfectly together:) I hope you like it....
Tip: Since Jaicey's hair is natural and curly when wet, I chose extensions that repeated the same texture to give the best appearance of natural looking extensions. If your hair is relaxed or straight, buy straight hair. If your hair is curly, or wavy, then purchase the hair that best compliments your texture, and get it blown out if you want your hair styled straight...
The best way to achieve the style of curl in the top pictures;
*separate your hair in sections, and use a clip or elastin to hold the extra hair.
* take the first section of hair, and wrap the hair around the heated curling iron until the very end, hold for 3-4 seconds and release
* repeat this step until all the hair has been curled
* then lean down toward your knees until all the hair is off your neck, run your fingers downward from root to tip of hair.
* do this until the curls are separated, then flip back up.
* use your favorite hairspray for hold, and walk the red carpet in your life, in your home, your neighborhood, or in the club... Be GLAMOROUS where ever you are!!!!

"NICO&ADRIAN FASHION SHOW 2009"

OK, so what a look!!! I had about 15minutes to do each person!!!! So this wasn't as detailed as I would like it to be, but the statement was definitely made:) A rooftop fashion show that was chic, fun, and over the top fab!! This look was inspired by the Gothic punk look of the late 1980's to the early 1990's. I modernized it to bring a more updated feeling to the look, and also tried to give the makeup a bit of edge, I think it worked. I HAD to take some shots of the amazing people who attended as well, what a show....Enjoy.

Behind the scene fun!!!! "The Wedding"

"The Wedding" (some makeup and hair looks from movie)

Sorry for the delay in in post dolls and kens, I've been working on some projects and now I can share them with you guys. I was the Key Makeup/hair artist for this film, meaning I created all the looks and concepts. The looks varies from super natural, (no makeup, makeup look), to Hollywood glam, and traditional African looks. It was such a pleasant experience and the crew, well let's say the "family" was awesome.
How to achieve the look; For the "Hollywood Glam" look, choose a beautiful red lip from your favorite makeup line. It can be a lipstick, lip gloss, or even a lip stain all would work, but you must be sure to know which red works for you. "How do I know which red works for me?" For blonds, I usually choose a orange/red, and for brunettes, I like to go with a blue/red, and for deeper toned women, I love cranberry tones or red wine (deeper reds) colors. It's important to know that there are always exceptions. For the eyes, keep them pretty neutral and add that signature black liner with the wing tip. A lot of people have difficulty getting the wing perfectly lined, but it takes a lot of practice and patients. Be sure to define the brow as well to frame the eyes and face, and for a finishing touch, add a bit of blush in the pink family to balance out the bolder hues with the neutral tones. More "how to" images and videos to come....

Experiencing Coco Mitchell....

What an amazing experience...okay, walking into the Night Hotel on 45Th street I see the legendary Coco Mitchell. Former Supermodel, well still a supermodel in my mind, Coco rocks it out on a shoot for new magazine (can't say yet). For makeup I went straight to glamour of course!! It was amazing I had no limits ,and boy did I go all the way. For deeper toned women you have to bring out the features by highlighting and contouring. I used cream base foundations and light on the powder for a natural skin finish. For hair, I added a hair piece for length and volume, and created soft curls for romance. I loved working with Coco, inspiring, elegant, stunning and sexy!!!!! Need I say more....

Makeup for Darius Wobil Fashion show

So I was the Key Makeup artist for this show. The designer was inspired by the 1980's, but with a modern twist.
EYES: For the eyes I really wanted them to pop! On the lid I used Copper pigment for M.A.C. I needed the crease to appear deeper than usual so I used Sophia eyeshadow from Nars Cosmetics, smoked out the lower rim with Blacktrack gel liner and set it with Carbon eyeshadow from M.A.C. Finish the eyes off with Dior Blackout Mascara (my favorite) to give volume and depth, and length.
CHEEKS: I wanted cheeks lifted and popped all at the same time, I know a bit much but so was the 1980's. I used Cargo bronzer to contour the cheekbones, with a bit of blush popped on the apple of the cheeks (Sweet as Cocoa, M.A.C).
LIPS; I needed the lips to be a deep red, in the wine family. So I used a cream base in a pod by Makeup Forever in red, I then lined the lips with a plum liner by Milani and topped the lips off with lip gloss, in the purple family.
This project was fun to do and the girls looked amazing!!
