"Toned Skies"
Opened my eyes as my alarm went off...
dazed, but very aware of my mission...
Walked through the apartment, feeling a sense of serenity,
not really sure why.
Turn the shower handle to the right, and allowed the steam to fill the bathroom,
as I looked in the mirror, my reflection started to become vague and so did my thoughts.
Pulled back the shower curtain, now water cascading on my face, my body, water cascading.
Towel dried off, then put on the clothes that made the mood of the moment feel confirmed.
Keys, don't forget my keys, my mind telling me don't forget.....
I see myself moving, grabbing my bottle of water, putting on my bag, I see myself,
but outside of me.
I go with the feeling, I nourish it.
It makes my body feel as if I am in a drunken state, but still able to not fall off the cloud.
Exit the building, My eyes instantly rolled toward the sky like they always do...
I squint, thinking "the sky has tones of gray, but the sun still shines".
How can that be, how could the two exist at the same time? Should I expect rain?,
Or should I continue on my journey with my sunglasses...
Step, Step, Step, I feel myself walking but I only see the sky.
How beautiful.
A myriad of different tones of gray clouds, highlighted by the one sun.
How beautiful.
The contrast, the difference, the two things that shouldn't be in one sky...
I wish I could have been up there, sitting up close, and watching God's work happen
To actually be in a place where no one, questions the different.
When I looked up, I could not deny the difference, and I couldn't deny the beauty of it all...
My eyes only saw Toned Skies........

THE "20's" IS THE NEW "09"
Who would have thought that bringing the "1920's" into "2009" would be sooo much fun!!! This was an amazing birthday party for my returning guest "Belle of the ball". Also in the picture, from left to right, Lonnie Hall (stylist), Belle(citizen of the world), Isaac Metlitsky(Parlor Showroom New York), Claudia Martinez Reardon ( Rover Yonder, founder& director). It was such a blast!!! Ok so lets talk about makeup, and hair.
EYES; For Belle's eyes I thought smokey but with brown and blue tones, very defined brow and highlighted brow bone. We also used false lashes to add a kick to the whole eye effect. I started with a primer of course from Laura Mercier called "Eye Basics", she has different tones according to what finish you would like on your eye. Then I dipped into my M.A.C. cosmetic pigment (blue brown), from lash line to crease. I wanted to achieve a deep crease so I use a shadow from NARS (sophia) and deepen her crease. I didn't really use a shadow on Belle's brow bone, just a lighter shade of concealer to highlight the area. I did however used a brow pencil from Lorac to really define the eyebrow's shape. When working with these products, or with anything you do BLENDING IS KEY!!!!!.
LIPS; with the lips, I defined Belle's lip shape with NARS velvet matte pencil (walkyrie), then i use a lip stain from M.A.C, to really deepen the color. I wanted to keep the lips matte, to stay in the feeling of the 1920's. I really liked the finished product.
HAIR: for hair I actually did very little. I used a 1/2 inch curling iron to create small spiral curls all over. Then I pinned the back up to give the allusion of shorter hair. Brush out the curls, but kept the wave and set the style with a little hairspray. Then we added the awesome head piece by Leah C, she amazing with head pieces!!!
Well that's it for now but way more to come!!!!!!!
SKIN; after the eyes I started on the skin, why?, because it's much easier to clean up under the eye and not worry about starting the foundation and concealor all over again. For Belle's skin, I simply mixed Kevyn Aucoin's jar foundation with Embryolisse face cream, to create a satin skin finish. I tapped a little loose powder all over to set the foundation and then started with defining the Belle's bone structure with bronzer and blush. I used Blunt from M.A.C., in the hollow of her cheeks to lift the cheek bone, and highlighted the apple of the cheek with a plum colored blush to give a rosey feeling to the cheeks.

"The Barnetts"
Another great experience in my life, the Barnett wedding. So earlier this year in June I had the honor of flying out for this amazing wedding. Thanks to my love Mindy Weiss!!! who was the wedding planner, I cant tell you how beautiful it was. Amanda Langston was the bride and Nick Barnett, groom. Amanda is one of the sweetess brides, I have every encountered!!. She was calm, elegant, classic and graceful. For the wedding the look was inspired by Jessica Simpson's red carpet look with the hair half up half down, and in the back spirals of wild curls and volume. The makeup was more of a soft approach, soft lavender smokey eye, with nude lips. So beautiful for the brides coloring and features. It was awesome, Dru Hill and Keith Sweat performed and the NFL players was in the building!! Another great experience to share....

"Belle of the Ball"
This stunning women is my dear friend Isabelle Hahn Cohen. I have had such a pleasure working with my Isabelle for about a year or so now. We met at the amazing Bergdorf Goodman when I had a position at the fashion forward makeup line NARS cosmetics. She came in after a long day of shopping looking for some new makeup, she only loved Nars and a friend of mine referred her to me. From the first moment our eyes met, I knew it would be a grand experience knowing this women. We instantly clicked, we jumped into discussing all types of fun things with makeup and different beauty secrets. Needless to say, the rest is history. I cant say enough how I love Belle's face!!, Its trans formative and yet so classic. She appeals to every women, every real women, from her beautiful curves to the fantasy or dressing up,she keeps me creatively stimulated, and always wanting to see more. Earlier this year in January of 2009, Belle got married!!!! and of course I was there every step of the way. From the dress fittings, to the jewelry choices, to even the makeup and hair trials(we had a lot of those), it was all a grand experience. To someone that has a kindred soul connected to your own, happens so rarely. To find it, is also like finding a different piece of love, only discovered when one has someone to share love with. She's the Belle of the Ball, and I wanted to share her with you as well....
